In The Devil Bat (1940), Dr. Paul Carruthers (Bela Lugosi) is a brilliant chemist who feels cheated by his wealthy employers at a cosmetics company. To exact his revenge, he uses electricity to enlarge bats to a monstrous size and trains them to attack a specific, pungent scent.
