According to a movie magazine review, Polly Pearl (Talmadge), an English hall singer, weds Leonard St. Aubyns (MacDonald), a nobleman. Leonard gambles in casinos and loses what little money he has left. When his father (Hurst) rejects him, she loses his affection. She makes a living as a singer in a seedy French cafe. After the father's death, the elder St. Aubyns seems to claim her infant son, but Polly is able to have the child taken away by a minister's wife. She then searches the streets of London in an attempt to locate her boy but is unsuccessful. Years later, a fight breaks out between a Frenchman and an English soldier as she recounts her life tale at a French cafe. The Englishman's colleague Leonard Cairns (Hackathorne) steps in, but he unintentionally shoots his companion and is rendered comatose in the process. His identity badge identifies him as Polly's son. Although she attempts to accept responsibility for the accident, her son will not accept that. He proves to be a gentleman, which she finds much more delightful than when she first found him.
