A wolf pack's wolfdog leader, Lobo, is facing a price. One day, a borax prospector named Dave Weston finds him with a thorn in his paw and befriends him. Love and loyalty are returned by the animal. Later, Lobo protects Dave from the assassination attempts of William "Borax" Horton, a cunning villain with plans for Dave's property. On the claim site, the young prospector is attacked by the villain once more and left for dead. When Lobo shows up, Dave sends him a message asking for assistance in town. Lobo is being pursued by a posse in the interim, but he escapes them and deceives Dave in the process. They discover there that Lobo is the finest friend of man.
