Released in 1941, Topper Returns is the third and final installment of the supernatural comedy series. In a shift toward the "haunted house" mystery genre, Cosmo Topper (Roland Young) helps the ghost of Gail Richards (Joan Blondell) find her own murderer. Amidst secret passages and trapdoors, Topper and his terrified chauffeur (Eddie "Rochester" Anderson) work to save the intended victim, Ann Carrington. The film earned two Oscar nominations for its clever special effects and remains a cult classic.
