The plot of the film involves a villain, "Buttonshoe Bill," who steals important documents from a character named "Buckwheat Ben". Ben's daughter, Nell, discovers the crime, and the hero, Rodney Hemingway, attempts to help her. Bill and his henchman kidnap Nell and set a trap for Hemingway.
