Unable to keep a job in the city, Friendless goes west and attempts various jobs, including bronco-busting and cattle wrangling. He struggles with the work but forms a unique and touching bond with a particular cow he names "Brown Eyes". The film culminates in a chaotic and acclaimed sequence where Friendless must lead a massive herd of cattle through the streets of Los Angeles to save the ranch owner's business.
