The Delhi High Court has asked the Election Commission of India (ECI) to consider a request from a political party for a single election symbol for the upcoming Bihar elections.

The party stated that it was established in 1951, changed its name in 1979, and has consistently participated in elections. It has also periodically requested an electoral symbol from the ECI as per the law. In its petition, the party mentioned that it had competed in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, where it was assigned the "sitar" symbol. The party, which intends to contest the Bihar elections, wrote to the ECI on June 2, 2025, to request a common electoral symbol under the ABJS banner. The ECI did not respond, and a reminder letter sent on July 4, 2025, also went unanswered. The petition argued that without an assigned symbol, the party's constitutional and statutory right to contest the elections would be violated.
